Contrary to reports that Kumasi Asante Kotoko will not honour the July 2, 2017 President Cup game against sworn rivals Accra Hearts of Oak, the Management has confirmed that the Porcupine Warriors will face the Phobians at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on the said date.
A letter dated June 19, 2017 and signed by the Administrative Manager Rose Padmore Yeboah said: “Asante Kotoko appreciates our club being chosen to participate in the President’s Cup on 2nd July, 2017. Pending all details and final agreement between Ghalca and Asante Kotoko SC, the club avails itself to participate in the said match in honour of the President and the people of Ghana.”
Accra Representative and Premier League Board member, Thomas Boakye Agyeman, also confirmed the club’s participation in an interview with Asantekotokosc.com. Meanwhile, in a radio interview in Kumasi, the club’s coach, Steven Pollack, has debunked suggestions that the Porcupines are afraid of Hearts of Oak. He told Kessben FM’s mid-morning sports show that Kotoko would be ready for Hearts and that there was nothing to fear.
