The Department of Food Science and Technology and the Environmental Quality Unit of Estate Organizations and of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology held a 3 – week short course at an affordable fee for food vendors in and around the KNUST a campus on Food Hygiene.
The program which begun on the 7th of September was well attended by food vendors concerned about the hygienic conditions of their food and environment. The University hosted these concerned vendors at the college of Science building where presentations on various topics such as environmental sanitation, hygienic inspection, food preservation among others in the local dialect (Twi).
The topics were presented by lecturers and other personnel of the University, some of which were Prof. Ibok Oduro, Dr. Jacob Agbenorhevi, Dr. Otoo Ellis and Dr. Lutterodt among others.
During one of these presentations, vendors were advised to take regular medical examinations to be sure they are in a stable health condition to provide service to others.
