The College of Arts and Built Environment in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has established a new department under the post graduate level, which has already begun admitting new students for the 2017/2018 academic year.
The Department of Educational Innovations in Science and Technology is established to replace the existing department of General Arts studies under the college of Arts and Built environment.
Addressing graduands during the 51st congregation in KNUSt, the provost of the College of Arts and Built Environment, Professor Joshua Ayarkwa announced that approval has been granted by the university’s academic board to establish a new department; Department of Educational Innovation in Science and Technology.
He stated that this is a strategic collaborative initiative between the college and the Institute of Distance Learning of the University to administer innovative and market-driven Science and Technology education programs at various at various levels of education in Ghana.
‘’The purpose of the new department is to provide a platform to bridge the gab in Innovations, Science and Technology education at all levels of schools by training teachers across the country on how to teach Science and Mathematics better in Ghana’’, He stated.
Professor Ayarkwa explained that in response to the growing demand for access to higher education, plans are underway to introduce a number of new academic programs.
‘’The college and academic board have already considered and approved some of the programs to begin in the 2017/2018 acaademic year. Including BA fashion Design, BA Texture Design and Technology, Msc. Facility Management, MSc. Land governance, PhD procurement Management and PhD project management’’.
Currently about one Hundred and seventy Students have been admitted in the Department of Educational Innovation in Science and Technology.
