KNUST Depart For 2018 GUSA Games

The  sports  directorate, Kwame  Nkrumah  University  of Science  and  Technology  (KNUST)  earlier today departed  the  campus  of KNUST  for  the  fast  approaching  Ghana University  Sports  Association  (GUSA) games  that  will be  hosted  by  UDS  in Tamale.

KNUST, after  camping  on  campus  during  the  vacation  amidst  intense  preparations look  set  to  stage  a challenge  from  all fronts  to  bring  glory  home.

Amongst  the  contingent are  some  officials including  Dr.  Anthony  Adjei Tetteh-Oppai,  director  of sports KNUST,  Madam  Janet  Ampong, the  Chief  Coach,  Mr.  Richard  Osei  Yaw  (ROY), coach for  the  male  soccer team,  Mr.  Emmanuel Agban, coach  for  the  Hockey  Team, Regan  Sarpong,  coach  for the  basketball  team, equipment  officers, doctors  and  a team  of  over  200  athletes.

Noteworthy,  the hockey  team  are  the  defending  champions  in  Hockey  after  they  won  gold  in both  men and  women divisions in Winneba, 2016  and  coach  Foyo  and  his charges  will be  hoping  to  maintain history  of  their  success.

However, the  male  soccer  team  won  gold  in  the  mini  GUSA games  last  year in Cape  Coast  and  the  team still remains  one  of the  expectant  sides  ahead  of  the  competition.

The  GUSA games which  can  be  likened  to  Olympic  games  will see  the likes  of KNUST,UEW,UG,UHAS,UENR,UCC,UDS amongst  others  compete  in  the  various  discipline  of  sports including  Soccer,Netball,Handball,Volleyball,Goalball,Athletics,Hockey,Basketball  and  Beach  Volleyball for supremacy.

The  games  will take  place  at  the  Aliu  Mahama Sports  Stadium, UDS Sports  Arena,  Tamale  Utrecht Academy  Stadium  and  NOBISCO Park  from  5th  to  21st  January  2018.
