Ghana Black Starlets thrashed the UAE Under-17 team by 4-0 in their final preparation ahead of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.
The match was played at the Theyab Ayana Stadium in Dubai where the Starlets have been camping ahead of the tournament.
After bowing to a 2-1 defeat to Mali in their previous friendly game, Ghana came out gun blazing – dominating with scintillating display. It took only seven minutes for Gideon Mensah to open the scoring for the Starlets.
Aminu Mohammed scored the second goal of the game ten minutes into the second half. Ghana at this time were in full command. Sadiq Ibrahim and Idriss Mohammed scored the third and fourth goal to wrap up the game.
The win will serve as a morale booster to spear the team on to claim the trophy since last winning it in 1995 – 22 years now.
The team is expected to arrive on the October 2. Ghana is in group A with Colombia, host nation India and USA.
