2018 GUSA WRAP: Unispiring KNUST Climaxed Competition With 4 Gold Medals As UCC Run Home With Unprecedented 39 Gold Medals

The 25th edition of Ghana University Sports Association( GUSA) Games came to a successful end today, 19th January 2018 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium after a colourful closing ceremony with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology  (KNUST) placing 5th on the overall medal table.

The closing ceremony of the successful Inter-University Games was marked with a crunch male soccer match between host University for Development Studies (UDS)  and University of Education Winneba ( UEW) with the latter emerging victorious after 1-0 laboured result in stipulated 90 minutes, UEW running home with the ultimate gold medal in male soccer.

The KNUST Sports Team however battled in 10 disciplines and eventually winning 4 gold medals( Men Triple Jump, Men 800m,Men Discus and Men 400m), 5 silver medals  ( Men 110m-Hurdles, Women Tennis-singles,Men 200m,Men 4x400m and Men Hockey) and 4 bronze medals  ( Mixed Doubles-Tennis, Women- Basketball,Men Doubles-Badminton and Women Javelin).

University of Cape Coast (UCC) once again proved their supremacy in GUSA Games after swooping home unprecedented 39 Gold Medals with 24 Silver and 14 Bronze medals.

Professor Seidu Al-Hassan,the Pro Vice Chancellor of host UDS in his closing remarks commended all the athletes for the show of sportsmanship and the gallant performances they displayed throughout the competition.

He concluded by thanking the Local Organising Committee ( LOC) , all the 8 institutions who represented and the overall contigent for a successful tournament.
